Vegan lifestyle influencer Tabitha Brown and her husband, Chance Brown are opening up about the challenges they’ve faced in their marriage, including a time when they considered divorce but were financially unable to go through with it.
In a recent episode of Fridays with Tab and Chance, the couple discussed the temptations and difficulties in their relationship and how their financial situation forced them to stay together.
“The temptation for me would’ve been I’m more tempted to leave because I know I can survive on my own. Right?” Tabitha recalled about their situation.
“There were times we stayed together because we couldn’t survive without each other,” she continued. “This is the truth. It wasn’t love. It wasn’t…it was like dang. I can’t afford to leave. We gon have to work it out.”
Tabitha then went on to explain that their relationship experienced groundbreaking moments where they were “absolutely not in love each other.” Thay were just walking by each other, just coexisting.
“And throughout that time, we just fell back in love. There were times when we absolutely were not in love with each other. We loved each other, but being in love is completely different,” the Emmy winning host added.
“There were times when we did not like each other. There were times when we didn’t even know we were married, but we could not afford to leave.”
@iamtabithabrown Listen this is the truth… we have been through it all and there were some really tough times! Being broke is the only reason we stayed together in some of those situations! #26years #marriage #realtalk ♬ original sound – Tabitha Brown
Despite these challenges, Tabitha and Chance managed to overcome their difficulties and ultimately rediscovered their love for one another, even celebrating their 20th anniversary with the most intimate and romantic photo shoots last year.
The couple first dated in middle school and broke up just before high school. Chance moved on and him and his high school sweetheart eventually had a daughter named Tyleah, whom Tabitha refers to as her “bonus daughter.”
Tabitha and Chance went to separate colleges, but ultimately reconnected due to a gut feeling..
“He was in college in North Carolina, I was in college in Miami, and I woke up in the middle of the night one night and he was the only person I could think about,” the social media personality told People in an exclusive interview. “I called him at three or four in the morning and told the roommate it was an emergency.”
“I told him, I was like, ‘Listen, I know I probably sound crazy, but all the years you wouldn’t look at me, you wouldn’t speak to me, I always had this feeling in my stomach,” she continued.
“I just woke up in the middle of the night, I’m here Miami, and I think that I’m in love with you. I think that all those years, that’s what it was. We’re supposed to be together. I’m in love with you.'”
Though Chance didn’t say much that night, he called Tabitha back the next day and the rest as we know is history. The two have been married for two decades and share two additional children: Question 11, and Choyce, 21.
“It’s such a beautiful journey. I wouldn’t want to do it with nobody else.”
