First of all, shout out to Calvin Klein for choosing Olakemi and other diverse women to represent your brand in your campaigns. Back in the day if you had a certain body type or if you were a plus size woman you just would not expect to see someone who looks remotely like you in any form of the brands advertising. These days brands are recognizing that diversity matters and we all would love to see their products worn by different types of people because we come in all shapes and sizes!

Women like Olakemi who preach self-love, plus size love and overall empowerment for women daily, are responsible for helping brands to open their eyes to the lack of diversity in their campaigns. The movement is amazing but the journey is pretty hard! Recently Olakami was viciously body shamed in the comments when her picture was added to Calvin Klein’s Instagram.

Here is the Calvin Klein ad Olakemi was a part of:

Great right? Now, check out the comments! – The body shaming she experienced was unreal!

I had the honour of being posted on @CalvinKlein their recognition that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and races is amazing.. and continuing to break the mould towards catering for all! Thank you for ALL The Extremely Positive Responses! I truly appreciate it ♥️🖤⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Now let me address this!!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is why I do what I do!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How many different ways can you be called fat, obese, unhealthy & disgusting! Body shaming NEEDS to stop! This isn’t simply just insulting someone’s Physical appearance because it’s your “medically certified diagnosis” or your so called “opinion”! This can be, and very much IS Mentally damaging to so many young and older people. The way in which you address things can be so Detrimental to how a young girl or boy will feel about themselves, and in turn the actions they possibly could take! The aim should never be to tear down any woman (or anyone) regardless of their size. Don’t for a moment act like you care about health. No man or woman has the right to make someone feel as though they are not worthy enough or good enough. It’s absolutely sad and disgusting! Thank the Most High I am on a journey of self acceptance and can see past these kind of comments. And for everyone… Embracing who you are for YOURSELF is so key.. because no one else is going to do it for you! I rather be a role model for people to love themselves at every stage, than for them to hate themselves!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And to the racist trolls, you’re not even worth addressing! #NoToBodyShaming #Inclusivity #Diversity #BodyPositivity #BodyConfidence

In her post Olakemi, addressed the issue head-on with a note that read:

“Now let me address this!!! This is why I do what I do!! How many different ways can you be called fat, obese, unhealthy & disgusting!
