Though Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict’s divorce was seemingly smooth and amicable, what truly led to their split has remained a mystery—until now.
In a new teaser from Tia Mowry: My Next Act, the actress sits down with her former Sister, Sister co-star Jackée Harry for some no-holds-barred girl talk about life, love, and the trials of dating after divorce. And let’s just say, the pair dropped some serious bombshells.
Relaxing on a plush, cream-colored couch, Mowry opens up the conversation by revisiting a nugget of advice her former TV mom shared years ago.
“You had told me that you can’t have everything in life,” Mowry begins.
“Not all at once,” Harry, who was married to hairstylist Elgin Charles from 1996 to 2003, responds with a knowing grin.
“I told you I had it for three years in my, in my career, in my lifetime, I had it all. I had a man, the kid and the money. Yeah, and it was all working and then it all went [to s—]. I,” the actress, 68 admits.
“It was phenomenal. I had support. I had nannies. I had beach boys. I mean, I had it all, but you can’t have it all all the time. Somebody’s got to stay home with the kids or nurture the ego of the man. … Do I sound bitter?”

As the conversation deepens, Mowry, 46, admits her biggest fear in dating post-divorce: balancing the demands of work, motherhood, and new romance.
“Working, being a mother and just putting a lot of effort into dating right now is a lot to juggle and balance,” she reveals, her voice tinged with concern.
“And I can’t help but wonder if I am repeating the same mistake now,” the “Twitches” star reveals, referring to her divorce from ex Cory Hardrict after 15 years of marriage in 2023.
“I don’t know if you know, but when you were having that conversation with me, that’s when I was actually, I was like just smiling through it all. In the back of my head,” she continues. “I was [like], ‘F—, is she in my head right now? I was already having questions about my marriage, but you didn’t know.”

Harry confesses she didn’t know the extent of Mowry’s struggles but has her own theory on what might’ve caused the split.
“I did know from the ‘other side, if I might say, somebody else was dissatisfied that they weren’t working,” she explains.
“One partner makes more money or has more success is a gap that is so hard and they can’t work. You can’t have competition. It just does not work.”
“You can’t stop your career because you want to even it out,” Harry continues, adding that she didn’t “dislike” Hardrict. “But I already told him. I said, ‘I’m on Tia’s side.’ I know you gotta choose sides when there’s a divorce. I don’t want him to feel bad.”

Both Mowry and Hardrict have since been open about co-parenting and finding balance post-split.
Both Mowry and Hardrict have been open about learning how to healthily co-parent as divorcees. Mowry, who “never dated” before meeting Hardrict, admits her unfamiliarity with the dating world has added an extra layer of challenge.
“I wasn’t even allowed to date until I was eighteen years old,” she said in a confessional scene of her reality show. “I met Cory when I turned twenty and I lost my virginity at twenty-five. There, I said it! And then we got married! Boom!”
