In today’s episode of “I was today years old when I learned that…” Mama Tina Knowles hilariously discovers that she missed the tongue-in-cheek innuendos that Beyonce dished out in her hit song “Ego.”
The track, released in 2008, sees Bey singing about her man’s massive ego and features lyrics such as, “It’s too big (big), it’s too wide (wide), it’s too strong (strong), it won’t fit (fit), it’s too much (much), it’s too tough (tough), He talk like this ’cause he can back it up.”
However, despite being among the first people to listen to Beyonce’s songs, Tina Knowles might not know exactly what her daughter is always singing about.
On Sunday (August 18), the 70-yar-old grandmother shared a clip of Cazo Wilborn and Chris Mathis from the Can’t Vibe With Y’all? Podcast, and it appears Bey surprised her mom.
“Wow, !!!!!!! I just realized that she wasn’t talking about that ego!!!!!! Ohhhhhh Myyyyy!!!!!!!” she captioned the post.
Paired with three laughing emojis, Knowles continued, “I’m serious; I really didn’t know til now!!!!! That’s crazy! Nooo! Really? Maybe not! I don’t know! What y’all think?”

As fans caught on to the playful double meaning, one jokingly commented, “Mama T, ask [Beyoncé] and let us know how that conversation went.”
Another connected the dots right alongside Knowles, writing, “I’m a 45-year-old married mother of 4…but I guess I’m super lame cause I was TODAY years old. This post and comments learned me.”
“Crying,” another wrote. “I can see Bey chuckling about this right now!!”
“Mama T, I think Blue is about to call you.” One BeyHive member replied, “Ego walked so Blow, Partition, Rocket and many others could run.”
One chose to reference the remix and shared, “And if we didn’t [know], the remix with Kanye made it crystal clear.”
Well, if Mama Tina is just cracking the code on “Ego,” wait until she gets an earful of “II Hands II Heaven,” “Levi’s Jeans,” and “Rocket.” Momma might need a stiff drink and a whole Renaissance era to recover.
