A Clark County District Court Judge has ordered Trey Songz to pay $11.2 million for alleged battery against a police officer in 2021.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Songz, real name Tremaine Neverson, was ordered to pay $11,277,961 million in damages to Tyrelle Dunn, a police officer in the Maryland Capitol, who claimed that he sustained injuries at the hands of the “Bottoms Up” singer and his security team.
The incident allegedly occurred around Songz’s birthday in November 2021, when he welcomed a group of women to his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Dunn’s wife was part of the group.
Dunn claimed his wife was allegedly held against her will and yelled for help, which prompted him to try and save her.
In his filing, Dunn alleged that he was allegedly attacked by the 39-year-old singer and his security and suffered numerous injuries, including fractured eye sockets and scarring had to miss work.
The money will cover Dunn’s medical expenses and emotional and punitive damages.
In April 2022, Songz was cleared of criminal wrongdoing, but Dunn continued to pursue civil litigation against the singer.
Songz was allegedly served with the lawsuit in California but never responded, leading to a default judgment in the officer’s favor.
The ruling adds to a growing list of legal ordeals for the “Na Na” artist. In April, Songz settled a $25 million lawsuit over the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a party in 2016. \
He was also accused of false imprisonment, gender violence, and intentional, negligent infliction of emotional distress.
“The settlement agreement conditions dismissal of this matter on the satisfactory completion of specified terms that are not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement,” Songz’s attorney said in a statement to Radar Online. “A request for dismissal will be filed no later than June 10, 2024.”
