Tyler Perry might be bringing some fan favorites back to the big screen.
In an Instagram post dated Sunday (Oct 20), Perry teased fans with a sneak peek of his computer screen, showing what looked like the first page of a new script for Why Did I Get Married Again? sending fans into a frenzy.
The original Why Did I Get Married? series, which debuted in 2007, followed the lives of four couples working through the ups and downs of marriage during a retreat. The star-studded cast included Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Michael Jai White, Malik Yoba, Richard T. Jones, Sharon Leal, and Tasha Smith.
The first film was a box office success, raking in over $55 million. Its 2010 sequel, Why Did I Get Married Too? pushed the franchise’s earnings over $115 million, cementing its place as a fan favorite.
In recent weeks, fans have been buzzing about the possibility of a third Why Did I Get Married? film, with playful posts from the cast only adding fuel to the fire.
It all started when Richard T. Jones, who played the infamous Mike, shared a hilarious video of himself on a plane, shaking his head and covering his mouth.
The text overlay read, “POV: I had to make Sheila drive again,” referencing the infamous scene where his character forces his wife Sheila (played by Jill Scott) to drive alone to their couples’ retreat.
The post quickly went viral, drawing playful reactions from fellow cast members, including Jill Scott (Sheila), Tasha Smith and Michael Jai White (Angela and Marcus), and Sharon Leal (Diane).

Notably absent from the playful back-and-forth are Janet Jackson, who’s been busy with her “Together Again” tour while mourning the loss of her brother Tito Jackson, and Malik Yoba, whose character Gavin tragically died in the second film.
“Now look what the people have done!!!!!” one user wrote on X.
Another warned, “Don’t play with us Tyler.”

I really love “Why Did I Get Married?”
Tyler Perry accurately depicted what bro code is. The men saw how Mike abused Sheila and they kept being friends with him. Apart from a “come on man” and a “that ain’t cool” sprinkled here and there, they didn’t do anything to protect her.— mysteriouslee. (@Lee_Mthi) May 2, 2020

Perry is riding high on the success of Divorce in the Black, a relationship drama-thriller starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict that has had social media buzzing.
And he has two more highly anticipated projects dropping before 2024 ends – Beauty in Black, which drops on Netflix on October 24, and a World War II film, The Six Triple Eight, set to stream just before Christmas on December 20.
