“Fast & Furious” star Tyrese Gibson might just be doing the ‘no more child support’ dance right now.
According to court documents obtained by Hypefresh, the 46-year-old actor is reportedly off the hook for his $10,000-a-month court-ordered child support now that his daughter, Shayla Gibson, has chosen to live with him after turning 18.
The outlet claims Shayla no longer wants anything to do with her mother, who allegedly tried to turn her against Tyrese. But over time, Shayla grew closer to her dad and now sees him for who he truly is—“an amazing man,” per Hypefresh.

Tyrese and Norma divorced in 2009, kicking off a long, very public custody battle.
In 2017, Norma accused the Baby Boy actor of using overly harsh physical discipline, which temporarily cost him visitation rights. No charges were filed, but the claims prompted an investigation.
Then, in 2020, Norma filed new allegations in court, claiming Tyrese had “pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.”
Norma also alleged Shayla was hit “between 12 and 16 times,” leading the child to allegedly later tell her mother that she couldn’t sit down due to pain.
At the time, a judge granted Norma temporary physical and legal custody, ordering Tyrese to stay 100 yards away from both of them and Norma’s home.
Eventually, in 2022, a judge awarded Tyrese 50/50 joint custody and denied Norma’s request for a permanent restraining order.
Still, the legal battles didn’t end there. Tyrese was later ordered to pay nearly $13,000 in back child support for Shayla, plus $10,690 per month in support for his younger daughter, Soraya.
By late 2024, citing a significant drop in income—reportedly about $39,000 per month—Tyrese filed to have those payments reduced.
“When divorces happen, women aren’t the only ones that are devastated. When a miscarriage happens, women are not the only ones that you should be checking on,” he said at the time.
“When you can’t put food on the table because your career goes up and then it goes down, stop skipping over the man and just checking on the woman.”
