A day after it has been reported that Wendy Williams contracted Covid, sources close to the Talk Show host said she was voluntarily admitted to an NYC hospital for a Psych Evaluation.
According to an exclusive with TMZ she was admitted on Tuesday sources saying Wendy has struggled with mental health issues for some time, so this was not a big shock.
A spokesperson for the NYPD told Page Six Thursday that they received a call at 8:43 a.m. on Tuesday requiring an ambulance to transport a 57-year-old woman residing at Williams’ Manhattan address for a psychiatric evaluation. The patient was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, the spokesperson told us.
Amid the reports of her mental health check, a source told Page Six she is lonely and continues to struggle with her health.
“It has been a very difficult time for Wendy. She’s a single woman with very few friends. She lost her marriage, her mom, and is living alone,” our source shared.
“There is a lot on her plate.”
On top of that, Wendy does have COVID, but she’s asymptomatic, and doctors continue to monitor her physical health as well.
It’s uncertain when she’ll be released, but we’re told her mental health continues to improve each day. And, our sources say, her COVID is still in check with no real symptoms.
Wendy’s 13th season was set to premiere Sept. 20, but that’s been pushed to Oct. 4.
However, last week producers revealed she was dealing with “ongoing health issues” and would not be able to make it to promotional activities as she was being evaluated.
