Cari Champion and Jemele Hill are teaming up! The duo, who used to host on ESPN, will now have their own show on CNN.
The network announced that the two will co-host Cari & Jemele: Speak Easy on CNN+, its new subscription streaming service that launches this spring.
The broadcast journalists will offer their unique takes on the latest trending topics in entertainment, culture, and sports.
Both co-hosts have impressive backgrounds as on-air correspondents and will merge their skills for CNN the same way they did for Vice TV’s Cari and Jemele (Won’t) Stick to Sports.
Champion is thrilled to be part of CNN+. She believes that her distinct creative partnership with Hill is thanks to their authentic and beautiful friendship. She is looking forward to sharing the duo’s brand of speakeasy with the world.
According to Hill, working with one of her best friends is the same as not having work. This is evident because there is undeniable chemistry between the ladies.
Before they started to work together, Hill was the SportsCenter host for close to 12 years. She also wrote for The Undefeated and hosted His and Hers.
In 2017, however, ESPN suspended her for posting anti-Trump statements on her social media pages, including one post where she labeled the former President a white supremacist; a claim that, to be honest, is not too big of a stretch.
Recently, Hill was a contributor to The Atlantic. She also hosts a Spotify podcast called Jemele Hill is Unbothered.
Champion, meanwhile, worked at ESPN for 8 years. During this time, she was a moderator on First Take, the host of SportsNation, and a co-host on SportsCenter Coast to Coast.
She is currently the host for iHeartRadio’s podcast, Naked with Cari Champion. She also hosted The Arena on Turner Sports.
All the best to the two talented ladies!
