Lil Wayne, the 40-year-old rapper, has revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that he can’t remember his own songs.
The rapper stated that he couldn’t differentiate between his albums “Tha Carter III,” “Tha Carter II,” “Tha Carter One,” and “Tha Carter IV.”
He admitted that he wouldn’t even recognize certain songs if asked about them.
Lil Wayne Attributes His Memory Loss To Epilepsy And Seizures
The rapper attributed his memory loss to his struggles with epilepsy and recurrent seizures, a condition he has previously opened up about.
He added that these records, which brought him fame in the early 2000s, hold no significance for him anymore due to his memory issues.
He even expressed uncertainty about the release year of his acclaimed album “Tha Carter III,” which came out in 2008.
Despite his inability to recall some of his biggest hits, Lil Wayne has no plans to retire from music.
He believes true artists and pioneers never retire; they continue their artistic journey until they pass.
He acknowledged that while his memory might not be amazing, he was blessed with an amazing mind for music.
In a previous interview with MTV in 2013, Lil Wayne mentioned experiencing seizures without any warning signs or symptoms.
He explained that he often has no memory of the seizures and relies on his family and friends to inform him about what happened.
The rapper recently completed his Welcome to Tha Carter tour.
He has also finalized the album “ColleGrove 2,” a sequel to his collaboration record with 2 Chainz in 2016.
While details about his “Carter IV” album are scarce, he plans to release a vinyl record to celebrate the 15th anniversary of “Carter III” later this year.
