Apryl Jones hopped on live with a fan who asked her about her relationship with Taye.
The fan said ‘a lot of us are intrigued mostly with the Taye situation‘ because you guys looked like you guys brought out the best in each other.
She continued to make the point that with Apryl being a public figure ‘we saw you the happiest with Taye, and we never got closure with that and we do not know what happened.’
Apryl’s response to the fan was interesting.
She questioned how someone could make such an assessment about her when they are not involved directly in her life.
I like to dissect these sort of things, where it’s like ….a person can say that doesn’t know you well we saw you the happiest, I would like to know how can a person make such an assessment.
She continues, so what does that mean to you to make a statement who is actually living the life where it is their happiest maybe its not.
I would like to know how you can say to me the person who is actually living it, this is what we saw from you….and why you felt like you thought that it was….

When we shared the video on Instagram, most of you said what we were thinking.
1. She did not answer the question
2. Her response felt like ‘gaslighting’.
One of you said:
if that’s not a gaslighting response I don’t know what is. Girl we are not slow. We saw all the posts you made laughing and singing and carrying on with this man and you presented happy. That’s why people feel that way.

She was being defensive in order to not answer
And then someone wrote an ‘assessment’ similar to what we all thought would happen based on the ‘image’ the former couple put out into the world. (and by image, we mean video, written sentiments, and pictures)
She seemed free with him. I thought maybe she wanted to get married and he never wanted to get married again. I believed they really loved each other. Maybe in the long run which he probably does now that heis willing to do that to be with her. Or her on the other hand doesn’t need to be married to be with him. Both of them haven’t seemed as happy since they broke up.
Another made the point:
why she so defensive? it did seem like she was very happy with him, all the public posts of them laughing and joking …etc i’ve personally nev seen her like that. no one really cares that much do ????so..,,,,
Taye Diggs And Apryl Jones Relationship Timeline
According to HNHH Taye Diggs spoke to Distractify about coming across Jones’ social media account in December 2021.
“I literally saw one of her Instagrams or TikToks, and I just texted, or whatever it’s called, and said that she was hilarious,” he said. “She helped me get a million followers. I love that stuff like that just kind of comes organically.”
Not too long after opening a TikTok account, Diggs featured Jones on his account.
This ignited both the fire, as well as the rumor mill about their relationship.
Additionally, Jones shared her own side of the shot-shooting on the Unconsciously Coupled podcast.
“I looked at my DM, and I was like, Taye Diggs? What the…? In my mind I was like, I could never get him,” she said.

Feb. 2022: Hard Launch & Public Appearances
At the premiere of Taye Diggs’ movie, Incarnation, in February 2022, the couple made their official red carpet debut.
Apryl Jones took to Instagram to show some love to her beau while stamping the status of their relationship. In her post, she shared,
“I LAUGH MY ASS OFF WITH YOU! YOU’RE SO F’ING DOPE!!!!!” Diggs subsequently replied, quipping: “Who? Me? I’m the lucky one.”
The following month, in March, they both attended Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar Party. From then on, it was clear to see that their relationship was positively blossoming.
They eventually spent 2022 growing together and making public appearances at events.
Moreover, their social media wasn’t left out, as they loved each other quite loudly.
Both their pages were filled with pictures encapsulating all the memories they made.
For example, in June, Jones posted an Instagram picture showing her kissing Diggs. Additionally, in September, they were seen vacationing in Bora Bora.
By November, they were all smiles, looking gorgeous while attending a Stevie Nicks concert.
Omarion’s Assessment
In January of 2023 Omarion did an interview with Sway in the Morning about Jones moving on with Diggs.
“I just met him for the first time and he seems like a cool dude,” he said. “He has kids of his own and he’s an older man so I only expect good things from him. It’s a beautiful thing when somebody finds a good thing.”
Additionally, regarding his kids and co-parenting, he said:
“I will say we have been moving towards a better relationship at this particular point in time, for the kids. It’s all good, it was just something we went through.
The alleged breakup
By June of 2023, both Taye and Apryl unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Apryl Jones was no longer featured in videos on Taye Diggs’ Instagram.
Fans have left speculated comments asking about her whereabouts, as well as the status of their relationship but neither party has directly addressed the situation.
At the end of the day, relationships are hard but we have to own both sides of the equation.
We have to own what we CHOOSE to share online for people to indulge and interpret and we also have to own what we have not shared that would lead to a balanced assessment.
Either way, it’s odd to question why someone would interpret something in the EXACT way you intended them to interpret it.
