This morning on The Breakfast Club, Ciara sat down for a real, no-hype conversation opening up about everything from her family with Russell Wilson to her journey as an independent artist and the long-awaited return to her musical reign.
During the conversation, Charlamangne could not help himself and asked Ciara how she felt about people calling her husband Russell Wilson is a simp or corny.
“When you hear people say Russell Wilson is corny what’s your honest reaction”
She responded:
Why would I even respond to that? You know what I’m saying? Like I know what I know and that’s all that matters. But he’s one of the he is the most amazing human being you could know. The smartest, most intelligent black man.
It’s different, you know, but it doesn’t bother him. Doesn’t bother him cuz I feel like he gets it because he takes care of his wife.
To that point Ciara said it’s important to look at ‘who is really calling Russell corny”
“because I don’t want to I’m just saying who’s the man saying it. Right. It’s like someone saying a person doesn’t love someone, but have you ever loved someone right? Have you ever been loved right? So sometimes people ….speak out of pocket because they just don’t know.
So for me …instead of being mad about its just like God bless them. You know, like you know, God bless them. You know what I’m saying?
Like so yeah because it’s obviously something that they’re lacking.
Again everyone’s entitled to their opinion …..I don’t have to live my life to prove anything to anybody right and so I think you know sometimes too people have a perspective just because they see life their way but you know to me too bad for them if they want to live life a certain way and love people a certain way too bad for them.
I’m trying to live my life. It doesn’t have space for like a a negativity.
If you’re trying to go to a certain height and climb certain mountains like that stuff is like down there. You know what I’m saying?
If I choose to entertain those things and I’m taking away time from myself…..also wisdom has showed me like you ain’t got to respond. People respond for you.

The New Album is here
After six years, Ciara is BACK with her eighth studio album, aptly titled CiCi, dropping today. She calls it a love letter to her fans, her childhood nickname, and two decades in the game. The album is a full-bodied extension of her 2023 CiCi EP, now amplified into 14 tracks featuring heavy hitters like Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Latto, Busta Rhymes, Tyga, and more.
Ciara shared she poured five years of blood, sweat, and tears into this project she even welcomed two babies during the creative process. It’s deep, and it’s personal. Still riding that plateau from Goodies nearly two decades ago, she’s still hungry, still dancing, and still keen on telling her story her way.
