Common has undoubtedly found “the one” in Jennifer Hudson.
During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club to promote his joint album “The Auditorium Vol. 1” with rapper Pete Rock, the 52-year-old gushed over his relationship with the TV personality, hinting that a proposal might be on the horizon.
“If I’m going to get married, it’s to her,” Common revealed during the July 15th appearance on The Breakfast Club. “It’s as simple as that.”
Even the show’s cohost Charlamagne Tha God couldn’t help but point out how happy the “Go” emcee looked as he spoke about Hudson.
“This is definitely—with all due respect to all the women I’ve dated ’cause it’s all love—but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship,” Common continued. “When you’re with somebody who’s from where you’re from, it’s a different kind of connection, too. “

Common previously noted that he and the Dreamgirls star are not only both from Chicago but also share a spiritual and personal connection that strengthens their relationship.
“I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I’ve met in life,” the ‘Invocation’ rapper said. “She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her. She’s talented.”
And while he might not have mentioned Hudson by name during the interview, Common – real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn – who shares daughter Omoye Assata Lynn, 27, with ex Kim Jones – dropped several unmistakable hints about the 42-year-old.
“I set my standard kind of high,” the Selma actor joked. “She had to have an EGOT. She had to win an Oscar for her first movie. She had to get her own talk show.”
Regarding his romance with Hudson – who, like him, is an EGOT recipient – Common added, “This relationship is a happy place for me.”
“For me, it’s one of those things where seeing her happy actually makes me really happy,” he continued. “I’m very grateful. I thank God every day, and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.”

Though Common and Hudson have remained mum since confirming their relationship on The Jennifer Hudson Talk Show in January, fans need to look no further than the rapper’s lyrics in his new song “Chi-Town Do It” for a hint at their current status.
In the song, Common raps, “Champion lover that could come with a ring / That got a ring to it, you and I theme to it.”
When asked about it in a recent interview with People, Common laughed before playing coy and saying, “I am in a great partnership, and, man, [Hudson] is somebody I really care about, love, and am growing with. The potential of a ‘champion lover’ means, ‘Yo, you are the one.’ I am feeling that. There’s a lot of potential there, is what I’ll say.”
We here wish them nothing but happiness.
