The CW has renewed its flagship drama series, All American, for a seventh season.
According to Deadline, the renewal was expected since the college drama is currently the CW’s highest-performing scripted show.
The series is one of the network’s top ratings performers.
All American is also the studio’s (Warner Bros. TV) most economically feasible show to produce–its license fee is over $1M per episode.
We have some bad news on the other two CW shows whose fates were up in the air.
Walker was canceled, while All American: Homecoming’s odds don’t look promising.
What You Should Know About All American Season 7
The cost of the hit series getting another season could be a lower production budget, though this isn’t confirmed.
To make the lower budget work, the upcoming season will undergo several casting changes.
Throughout its run, All American has been telling a compelling story whose arc should end in the seventh season.
The main character, Spencer James, has just secured the championship, so he’s on track to enter the NFL draft.
Two additional episodes of season 6 will help conclude the show’s current chapter while setting up the next one.
The show is the last CW series from the lucrative Netflix output deal the streamer made with CBS Studios and WBTV.
CW Entertainment President Brad Schwartz revealed that:
“All American has a slightly different financial model, given its deal with Netflix. That makes it a little more interesting for everybody.”
The show’s Season 6 finale will air on July 15.
Schwartz added:
“A strong Fall is going to lead into an even stronger 2025 on The CW as new seasons of All American, Penn & Teller: Fool Us and The Chosen join NASCAR Xfinity Series, WWE NXT, ACC football & basketball, Pac-12 football, Wild Cards, Superman & Lois, The Librarians, Inside the NFL, Sullivan’s Crossing and much more. Through six seasons, All American remains a top-performer for The CW as the network’s most-watched series across all linear and digital platforms.”
