Sir Elton John says he’s lost his eyesight months after suffering a severe eye infection.
Speaking at the opening-night premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical” in London on Sunday (December 1st), the 77-year-old iconic musician addressed the audience, revealing he couldn’t see the show due to his vision.
“As some of you may know, I have had issues, and now I have lost my sight. I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it,” Elton John told the crowd per the DailyMail.
The Grammy winner also credited his husband, David Furnish, 62, for helping him through his vision issues.
“To my husband, who’s been my rock because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know … it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it,” he continued.
“And, boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thank you for coming!”

The “I’m Still Standing” singer previously addressed his eyesight issues in an Instagram post in September, revealing he only has “limited vision in one eye” after suffering a “severe eye infection” while vacationing in the south of France.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process, and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” Elton John wrote at the time.
“I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks,” he continued.
“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.”

He further elaborated on his condition in an interview with Good Morning America last week.
“It kind of floored me, and I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” John explained, adding that his “left eye’s not the greatest” and has prevented him from reading lyrics.
But “there’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment…because I can do something like this interview, but going into the studio and recording — I don’t know,” he added.
However, Elton John revealed they’re taking the initiative to try and improve it, “but at the moment, that’s really what we’re concentrating on.”
