Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud in their federal trial on Friday (March 28).
The “Beautiful Girls” artist, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, was placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring, while his mother was taken into custody.
The mother-son duo was convicted on all five charges they were faced stemming from their May 2024 arrest where they were accused of defrauding several businesses, including multiple jewelers, a television instalment company, a mattress firm, and a high-end car dealership.
The total sum of items they obtained exceeded $1 million, prosecutors said.
Kingston’s and Turner’s trial began on Monday (March 24) and concluded with closing arguments on Friday (March 28). The jury reached their decision after three and a half hours, NBC6 reported.
Upon hearing the verdict, the “Take You There” singer reportedly became emotional and teared up in the Florida courtroom.
The judge deemed Kingston’s mother as a flight risk, partly because she testified, per Local10.
Kingston, however, was allowed to go home, where he’s been ordered to stay until his July 11 sentencing.
The singer was additionally ordered to post a surety bond of a home valued at $500,000 and $200,000 in cash.
Kingston reportedly told US Marshalls to “protect my mother” before she was taken out of the courtroom and into custody.

Kingston and Turner were arrested in May 2024 and made their first court appearance in July.
The pair was each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud.
According to the indictment, Turner would often ensure deliveries and wire transfers, only to send fraudulent transfers instead.
The scheme went on for a few years until March 2024, the indictment said.
