The chaos ensued when a yet-to-be-identified assailant unleashed bullets.
The incident, which happened at Oakland Park Flea Market, left one person dead and another injured.
This happened while the rapper was busy filming her music video.
She was surrounded by extras when the gunman caused the mayhem.
The assailant managed to escape the scene.
Videos that have since surfaced on Instagram that provide a visual account of the aftermath.
One particularly jarring video displays an injured victim on the ground.
Another shows people calmly navigating through the strip mall, processing the shock.
Sexy Red Breaks Her Silence
The musician addressed the unfortunate incident.
The “SkeeYee” rapper expressed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.
She quickly pointed out that, according to police, the shooting had no direct link to her or her video shoot.
Gratefully, she acknowledged both on and off-duty officers for their swift action in securing the scene.
She also mentioned that the shoot was continued at an alternative location.
She hopes that this incident doesn’t become a defining narrative about her.
One of the victims was declared dead at the scene.
The other was rushed to a nearby hospital.
“I send my condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and prayers up for the person who was wounded. But i gotta address the rumors that it happened at my video shoot bc shit is not true, at all. To be clear it happened at a gas station across the street from my video set. Florida Highway Patrol and Broward County Sheriff confirmed that the shooting wasn’t on my set. [I’m] secure and thanks to my production team getting all the paperwork right and working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to hire off-duty’s to make sure everyone was safe. We finished the shoot at a different location and everyone from our set went home safely. Period. I’m just trying to work hard, make good music, connect with my fans. Please don’t try to twist narratives and put this on a bitch.”
As of now, their health status remains undisclosed.
Broward County Sheriff’s deputies have taken up the task.
Their goal?
To decipher if there’s any connection between the violent act and Sexy Red’s video shoot.
