Tyla has been feeling the pressure that comes with being in the spotlight. In a new interview with KISS XTRA the singer said she had to adjust to public scrutiny.
“For a while, I just felt like, damn, relax,” she said. “Because, I don’t know. It was just getting annoying.”
“I kind of had to get used to people just being interested and embrace it now, but at the time, I was like, ‘Y’all gonna analyze every little thing I do?’ For a while, I felt weird about it, but then I just realized that you kind of have to do what you want, do it the way you want, and everyone’s going to have their own take on it, their own opinion on it, and that’s okay.”
Tyla’s Hit “Water” Hits a Legal Wave: Songwriters Sue Over Royalties
What once felt like unstoppable stream counts and awards may now be hitting courtroom ceilings. Songwriters Olmo Zucca and Jackson LoMastro filed a fresh lawsuit in late July 2025 against Tyla, her producer Sammy SoSo Awuku, and Sony Music / Epic Records, claiming they were shortchanged on credits and royalties for “Water”—the global smash that propelled Tyla into popiano royalty.
This isn’t the first go-round. The pair previously filed in March 2025 but dropped the case just a day before refiling it with new legal representation. Now, they’re doubling down: claiming they were integral to the core demo session in Los Angeles and deserve full credit—not just minor acknowledgment.
