Don’t believe me? look up the hashtag #60secondrule on social media and see the testimonials for yourself. For the record, we are all about glowing skin this year and since many of you are joining that mantra I thought it would be cool to introduce the #60secondrule here.
The #60secondrule is super simple, it just means cleansing your skin for a good solid 60 seconds if not more using your fingers. Think about it! Most of us rush the cleanse part of our routine because:
A. We are either rushing to get somewhere or
B. We just typically spend more time applying serums and moisturizers because of how dry our faces can feel.
With the #60secondrule you are not only using a great quality cleanser but you are very deliberate and liberal about how you cleanse your skin.
The focus is every crevice, the hairline, your neck your cheeks and nose allowing the product to really work on cleansing your pores using just your fingers for a solid minute.
If you like to oil cleanse to remove makeup, your minute will turn into 2 minutes because you should oil cleanse for one minute then do your normal cleanse for another minute.
This leads me to Nayamka Roberts-Smith who is an esthetician who is an avid believer in this method and where I got my marching orders from.

“Makeup, dirt, and oil are a lot more difficult to remove from the skin most people realize,” Roberts-Smith tells Cosmo. “So not only do you want to give the cleanser a chance to break down and dissolve products and grime, but taking 60 seconds also makes you pay attention to your skin and what you’re doing—like remembering to cleanse around the edges of your nose, under your chin, and around your hairline.”
And though, sure, the technique may sound obvious and basic—because it is kind of obvious and basic—it’s also apparently game-changing. So much so, that it’s earned the hashtag #60secondrule and a following of devotees who swear by it.

Now to be fair, I personally do not have acne prone skin and cleansing for one minute will not correct any skin condition caused from hormones or other lifestyle triggers but the #60secondrule might just help you to keep any extra trauma away from your skin.
I love it because its relaxing and I like being intentional with my skin! It also helps that I havent seen a major breakout in awhile.
