Beyonce’s highly anticipated “Cowboy Carter” album is coming on March 29, and the singer has shed light on what inspired her to make it.
According to CNN, Queen Bey hopes the album will render irrelevant any race-related stigma in country music.
She got the idea for it “out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t.”
“But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.”
Beyonce’s Songs Are Already Hits
Beyonce’s two country singles–Texas Hold’ Em and 16 Carriages–are already dominating the country charts.
But she’s no stranger to using a country influence in her songs.
In 2016, she made the country-infused “Daddy Lessons” and performed it with renowned country group The Chicks.

However, she received racist backlash.
“The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. Act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.”
For Cowboy Carter, Queen Bey teased some surprise collaborations.
“[I] collaborated with some brilliant artists who I deeply respect.”
At the end of her post, Queen Bey concluded with:
“This ain’t a Country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album. This is act ii COWBOY CARTER, and I am proud to share it with y’all!”
