According to The Decider, Ana Navarro took a firm stance against slut-shaming.
In a recent episode of The View, she challenged her co-host Sunny Hostin, whose comments heavily criticized a woman over a man involved in an extramarital affair..
The incident began when Joy Behar read a query from The Washington Post’s advice column.
The post discussed a woman involved in a 15-year-long affair with a married man, who later divorced his wife and passed away.
His ex-wife expressed her wish to not have the mistress attend the funeral.
Quick to comment, Hostin referred to the woman with labels such as “marriage wrecker,” “cheater,” and “adulteress”.
Ana Navarro firmly stated,
“Well, she obviously hasn’t respected the ex-wife’s wishes for 15 freaking years, so she doesn’t give a crap about how that ex-wife feels.”
Hostin’s advice to the mistress?
“Keep her butt at home.”
Ana Navarro’s Strong Counter
Ana Navarro was swift to challenge Hostin’s viewpoint.
She particularly stressed the lack of accountability placed on the man.
Navarro asked,
“Why do you always go after the woman and never go after the man?”
She pointed out the one-sided blame and added,
“The one who cheated on his marital vows was the man. And we always slut-shame the woman and let the man get off scot-free. And women are the ones that do it the most.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin and Behar shared varied views.
Griffin suggested the mistress should “privately grieve him.”
Behar mentioned that both involved are to blame.
Ana Navarro stayed consistent in her criticism of Hostin’s take on the matter.
As the conversation grew intense, Navarro told Hostin,
“Can I say something? You are in a very good marriage, and you are very lucky. There’s a lot of people in really terrible marriages.”
When Hostin’s counter was to simply “get divorced” rather than continue an affair, Navarro retorted,
“Well, sometimes you gotta raise children, Sunny. Sometimes, you’ve got financial issues. It’s not as easy for everybody. And I think it’s wrong for us to judge the woman as harshly as we do and let the guy go off.”
With a plethora of opinions swirling, Behar humorously summed up the spirited debate as “Pandemonium!”
