Aoki Lee Simmons, daughter of Russell Simmons, sparked controversy recently when she was photographed on a vacation with Vittorio Assaf, her alleged sugar daddy.
The 21-year-old gained attention after a picture showing her kissing the 65-year-old man started circulating online and she went live a couple of times with said boyfriend.
It wasn’t long before Aoki decided to end her relationship with the restaurateur but people are still concerned about her health.
She took to social media to address accusations that she behaves as if she’s under the influence of drugs.
“You used to be a generally intelligent girl, now gives cocaine,”
“We don’t answer questions no more, so don’t ask, cause I’ve gotten myself into so much trouble answering questions. Cause I always pretend that livestreams are conversations.”
“I’m not on drugs, I don’t do coke, I do like sugar and I’m a nerd. Like I don’t think any of you guys have any friends who are actually nerds. Do you have any friends. Like do you have friends who have played dungeon dragons with one time. I’m just a nerd. That’s all it.”
Prior to addressing the ‘you are on something’ comments Aoki asked her fans to stop commenting on her weight, claiming she can lose jobs from all the negativity.
“Can you guys please stop saying I’m anorexic on the internet because I’ve been getting fired from modeling jobs, because people think I’m a bad influence and I’m just really not. I eat a lot of food, so can you please stop saying because I’ve been getting in trouble. Thank you, cool, please stop,” she said on live at the time.
“Did you guys hear me.. like when you comment that I get fired, because then brands think that I…. People think that I have issue and they don’t want that on their brand. So, I genuinely have gotten fired because of these comments guys. Like could you just please not, like I would really appreciate it.”
Aoki continued, “It’s like not funny, that’s why I was crying. And then the more it happened, the more stressed I got, the more weight I lost. It was a mess and I couldn’t get a job because of it. So it’s not funny. I got big fired.”
Aoki Lee’s Education and career
In an interview with the Huff Post last year Aoki said:
“I decided from a young age, I wanted to go to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton, much like Blair from ‘Gossip Girl,’” Simmons told HuffPost. “I do this thing where I’m like, ‘I want to have a plan.’ And everyone’s like, ‘Thank you for your 85th five-year plan.’ They’re like, ‘No model has an eight-year plan. Please calm down.’”
While finishing up school she became more immersed in the modeling world, pleasantly surprised to learn that she was enjoying it.
“I went back to very basic, first principles of mine: What are you having fun doing? What parts of your life make you so excited that you can’t wait for them to come around? It was always a fashion-related job,” said Simmons. “I thought, you should probably follow your excitement. It’s been really fun to rediscover with my mom an interest that I had as a very young child and have that connection again. She was a very chill part of it.”
