Chile Brittney Spears is about to spill the beans and word on the street is a few of her peers are little nervous about it.
According to PEOPLE Brittney is now sharing a painful experience she’s kept private for 20 years.
In her upcoming memoir The Woman in Me, the pop icon, 41, reveals that when she dated Justin Timberlake, she became pregnant with his baby but had an abortion.
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears writes of the pregnancy in the book. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
Spears writes of her experience undergoing the abortion: “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Justin Timberlake and Brittney Spears relationship timeline
Justin and Brittney met when they were children while both were cast members of the “Mickey Mouse Club,” a popular children’s television show.
They started dating in 1999 when both were in their late teens. They were one of the most famous celebrity couples at the time known for their iconic matching outfits, especially the all-denim ensemble they wore to the 2001 American Music Awards.
Their relationship received intense media attention, with the press and paparazzi closely following their every move.
Their fame and relationship made them tabloid fixtures.
In 2002, the couple announced their split. While they didn’t publicly disclose the specific reasons for the breakup, it was widely reported that their busy schedules and growing fame played a role. Both went on to have successful careers in music and entertainment on their own.
After their breakup, Justin Timberlake released the song “Cry Me a River,” which was rumored to be about his breakup with Spears. In response, Britney Spears released the song “Everytime,” which was seen as her emotional response to their split.
In the years that followed, there were moments of reconciliation between the two, including a friendly interaction at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. However, they never officially rekindled their romantic relationship.
Brittney’s Book
Spears will release her much-anticipated memoir on Oct. 24, through Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
The memoir comes nearly two years after Spears was released from her court-ordered conservatorship, which had been in place for 13 years.
The conservatorship was terminated in November 2021 after Spears gave fervent public testimony in court in June 2021.
Promising to reveal “for the first time her incredible journey (and) strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history,” according to a press release from Gallery Books, the singer’s memoir “illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.”
Justin Timberlake ‘concerned’ about ex Britney Spears’ bombshell book
Page Six is reporting that Justin Timberlake is “concerned” about his ex-girlfriend’s memoir.
Multiple sources tell Page Six exclusively – “He’s very curious what she’ll reveal from their relationship,” one source explains. “It’s eating at him.”
However, contrary to a recent Us Weekly report that Spears’ bombshell book, “The Woman in Me” (out Oct. 24), goes after Timberlake “hard,” a publishing insider insists it is “not a takedown” of anyone.
“This is Britney finally getting a chance to tell her empowering story,” the insider tells us, “and it’s nothing more than that.”
Makes sense why Justin Timberlake was worried about Britney Spearsʼ Tell-All book being released. Cos when Britney Spears had that abortion, Justin Timberlake proceeded to start one of the biggest public draggings against her that definitely did a number on her mental health. https://t.co/snlhHNhXli

“I have been silenced for what feels like most of my life, all I ever wanted to do feel liberated. My father though, wanted me to feel scared and threatened by his actions my whole life.”
