We knew this was coming! Charlamagne Tha God, the renowned radio host, and so called mental health activist has stirred up controversy with his recent remarks on his show, The Breakfast Club, which critics have condemned as ‘fatphobic.’
In a segment addressing the viral saga of Reesa Teesa, Charlamagne’s reference to her as a ‘big back’ has ignited outrage among listeners and social media users.
Now he is apologizing.
A week or so ago he said:
“Big Backs, y’all gotta stop being so thirsty for a man,” Charlamagne began. “There is a man out there for you. This woman believed all of this because she wanted to believe all of this. Big back belief isn’t like everybody else’s belief. She said it herself. He said everything I wanted to hear. She wanted to believe whatever was coming out of his mouth because she wanted a man so bad.”

Reesa reacted to Charlamagne’s comments when she addressed some of the negativity she has faced since dropping her series “Who TF Did I marry”.
In an interview with Tamron Hall she said she was hurt by the comments:
“There was this very famous personality that called me a ‘Big Back,” talking about my weight,” she told Tamron. “I can already admit I’m self-conscious as a heavier woman. I feel like how I look should not dictate whether or not I deserve what happened,” she said.
“I feel like how I look should not dictate whether or not I deserved the mistreatment. It was disappointing, and it was hurtful,” she told Tamron. “Especially the one that was the more famous personality. Because, again, I’m more than just my weight.”
Charlamagne Apologizes
Now the host is apologizing for his words, claiming he was speaking in general and with the support of Jess Hilarious claiming he did not call her a ‘big back’.
In the caption they wrote:
“I disturbed that woman’s peace and that wasn’t my intention. So I apologize if my words may her feel that.”

We wholeheartedly agree with this comment on TBC instagram:
Mtcheeeew… When you ☝????BUT… everything prior is no longer relevant. No matter how you meant it to come off- you upset and hurt her. So further explaining yourself means you want people to side with you and understand you more than feel for the woman whose feelings you hurt. “Big back behavior” is a wild af comment and assumption to even say. It has nothing to do with what you DIDN’T say it’s what you DID say and the burden women already carry and the hurt and things she already has to endure and hear. All you did was flame what others were saying and this could just be me but hearing her story and saying that sounds like big back behavior would come to the assumption what happened to her and her actions were due to her size.
Because please tell us … AND QUICKLY ……how in the world you can seperate your description of a person exhibiting ‘big back behavior’ without alluding to their physical appearance.
Anyway chile,
Reesa is on GMA this morning for an exclusive and she is stunning!
“Ultimately I decided, ‘If you’re going to tell this story, tell the whole story,'” she told “GMA,” adding, “I also really, truly believe the story will help somebody.”
