City Girls released their latest album, RAW, last week.
However, the album (which explicitly translates to Real A** W***es) didn’t get the reaction the rappers expected.
According to HotNewHipHop, experts expect the album to sell between 6K and 8K album-equivalent units in the first week.
These numbers might seem disappointing, but they don’t consider the press and attention City Girls have received recently.
For instance, the duo performed new material at the recent 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
They’ve also had several prominent interviews, and the industry has backed them to succeed.
City Girls’ Sale Projections Might Not Be All Doom And Gloom
But the projections might not be shocking as RAW represents the duo’s niche–it’s not the most mainstream album out there.
The album is a treat for hardcore fans, but it might not appeal to a wider audience.
Additionally, it’s been a while since the duo burst onto the hip-hop scene.
That said, some of City Girls’ hottest singles are still getting airplay and connecting with their fanbase as they make new fans.
