Gabrielle Union has clapped back at haters who think she’s too old to be rocking bikinis.
Talking with Hilary Kerr on the Who What Wear podcast, the 50-year-old clarifies that the snarky comments aren’t changing her beach wardrobe.
“Somebody said, ‘You’re old enough to be somebody’s grandma, why are you still in — like wearing swimsuits?’ I’m like, ‘First of all, they’re not just swimsuits. They are thongs.’ And you’re gonna see these cheeks until my ass literally falls off, and I might just wear a swimsuit in the casket. I don’t know. That just might be for you, for that one commenter… it’s just gonna be like, me in a thong, like, a**-up in the casket.”

According to Vibe, she then revealed how Hollywood is all about age shaming.
“At 35, they start treating you like you’ve got osteoporosis. You start becoming invisible and it’s a weird, empty feeling to feel like you’re disappearing in front of your own eyes. You start taking on the same attitude as [a] society that believes that you lack value. We need to boldly take up space and boldly claim and acknowledge our own beauty in all that we do, instead of waiting. Claim you, whether it’s you fall in love with a younger dude… you love you more than anybody else loves you.”
The Bring It On star also recently let her fans peek into her road to the big 5-0 in a two-part special on BET+, surrounded by her family and close friends.
She took a trip down memory lane to spotlight the woman she used to be and paid homage to the woman she is now while rocking her inner badass.
Gabrielle Union traveled to various parts of Africa, including Namibia and Ghana, to explore her heritage.
She picked up wisdom and ditched what didn’t work for her, inviting others to rethink, rediscover, and reconnect.
Whatever you think of Gabrielle Union, her confidence is worth admiring.
