Tyrese Gibson has another million dollar lawsuit up his sleeve and this time its for Teddy Pendergrass’ Biopic.
According to documents acquired by TMZ, Tyrese asserts that his company secured exclusive rights to Teddy’s life story as far back as 2011.. with Joan’s (Teddy’s Wife) blessing.
Tyrese explains that Joan offered him the rights to create both a book and a movie about Teddy.
In exchange, Tyrese’s company committed to investing in these projects and leveraging his celebrity status to endorse them, thereby preserving Teddy’s legacy.

Hearing those words coming from him as one could imagine put me in under an unbearable amount of pressure but I knew that I was BORN to play Teddy Pendergrass….
The first person I called was my mother RIP and shared the news she’s SCREAMED!!!! My mother was the BIGGEST TEDDY PENDERGRASS FAN ON EARTH! She couldn’t believe it….
There is nothing more uncomfortable than trying to create magic with inexperienced creatives….
I’m very very sure this will all be figured out… Everyone in Hollywood will tell you bio-pics are some of the MOST challenging films to try and make because there are so many “Narratives” and nuances that go into creating magic…. Really no surprises here….
I owe it to my mother and Teddy to get this done!!
Whatever it takes this Teddy Movie will happen….

In the lawsuit, Tyrese alleges that both he and Voltron have collectively poured approximately $450,000 into the project, a labor of nearly a decade in the making.
However, he claims Joan changed her mind in 2022 declining to renew the option for the rights to Teddy’s life story.
Tyrese claims Joan’s about-face caused Voltron to suffer financial harm … so now he’s suing Joan in her individual capacity and as executor of Teddy’s estate for at least $1 million in damages.
