2025 is shaping up to be the year of sequels —and the Friday franchise is the latest to join the party.
According to Deadline, after more than two decades, Ice Cube, the writer and creator of the Friday franchise, has finally inked a deal with Warner Bros and New Line Cinema to write and reprise his role as Craig Jones in Last Friday.
Last Friday will be the fourth entry in the rapper/actor/filmmaker’s comedy Friday (1995), Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002).

New Line President and CCO Richard Brener confirmed the news in an interview with Hollywood Reporter.
“We are making another Friday. We just closed a deal with Ice Cube to write and star. It’s going to be called Last Friday,” he stated.
This marks a major breakthrough for Ice Cube, who previously teased the sequel had “finally got some traction” during an appearance at Flavor Flav’s SiriusXM show in June 2024.
“They have new leadership, my man Mike DeLuca, who used to be at New Line when I first started, when I first did the first Friday and Players Club and All About the Benjamins. Mike DeLuca was there,” the Grammy winner explained at the time.
“So, now he’s running Warner Bros,” added Ice Cube. “And him and my man Michael Gruber was like, ‘Yo, what the fuck is going on with Friday? Man, let’s get this shit back online.’”

Ice Cube co-wrote the first Friday (1995) with DJ Pooh and penned the sequels solo, making him the creative backbone of the franchise.
New Line originally developed all three films, with De Luca playing a significant role during the trilogy’s production.
After Warners Bros. acquired New Line, the studio gained control of the Friday franchise, making Friday 4 (Last Friday) a full circle moment for Ice Cube and De Luca.
As of now, neither a release date nor cast has been revealed. All we can do is wait and see, but you know it’s going to be litty!
