The home of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught fire on Wednesday.
According to CBS News, firefighters were called to the scene just before 2pm, arriving to find smoke and fire spewing from the multi-story house.
Tyreek Hill’s House Was On Fire For 45 Minutes
The firefighters went to the rooftop, punching holes to fight the fire better.
It’s uncertain what started the fire, as Tyreek Hill was at practice when the house caught fire.
Thankfully, no one was harmed, and they safely left the house as firefighters battled the blaze.
A fan showed up at the scene and explained what she saw.
“We saw the family. When he got here, he hugged his family, he hugged his wife. It’s just overall devastating seeing all the fire and the smoke and everything.”
Drew Rosenhaus, Tyreek Hill’s agent, also gave a statement.
“It was limited to one room. So, of course, there will be other damage, but Tyreek is going to be back with his teammates. He obviously raced over to make sure everyone is okay, but everything is under control right now.”
Images showed the player standing with his family on his driveway, wearing a leg brace.
Firefighters took around 45 minutes to put out the fire, and investigators will look into what caused it.
The blaze left a massive hole in his roof, with significant water and smoke damage inside.
Investigators later confirmed that the blaze was caused by a kid playing with a lighter in a bedroom.
“The investigation identified that the fire was an accidental and was caused by a child playing with a lighter within a bedroom where the fire started. Fortunately, all occupants of the home were able to evacuate safely, and there were no injuries.” Robert Taylor, fire marshal with Davie Fire Rescue
