Remy Ma has released an official statement after her 23-year-old son, JaySon Scott, was charged with murder.
According to TMZ, the Bronx rapper announced that proper legal protocol will “reveal the truth.”
“We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.”
Remy Ma continued:
“As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”
JaySon’s attorney is Dawn Florio.
Did Remy Ma’s Son Really Committ Murder?
On June 7, 2021, 43-year-old Darius Guillebeaux, 43, was shot in the chest and head in broad daylight.
The motive is still uncertain, with investigators suspecting that it was a murder-for-hire.
Along with first-degree murder charges, JaySon was also charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
The charges come one decade after Remy Ma was released from prison after six years.
The rapper was found guilty of intentional assault when she shot someone in her entourage over $3,000 in 2007.
She was released in 2014 and promptly joined Love & Hip Hop.
