Shanquella Robinson’s family is not stopping their quest for justice as the second anniversary of their daughter’s death arrives.
Shanquella, 25 died on October 29, 2022, while on vacation in Cabo San Luca with six others, who’ve since been dubbed “The Cabo 6.”
Her “travel companions” have reportedly insisted the social media personality from Charlotte, N.C. died of alcohol poisoning, but an autopsy conducted by Mexican authorities showed her death resulted from a broken neck.
Soon after her death, videos emerged of Robinson being viciously beaten by members of the group during their Cabo trip. Nonetheless, the FBI declined to bring charges and no arrests have been made since.
“We need justice for Shanquella Robinson,” Sallamondra Robinson, Shanquella’s mother, said in a statement. “It’s been two years and there’s no reason that no one has been arrested yet. I need justice for my child.”

Sallamondra is suing the Cabo 6, alleging multiple counts of wrongful death, battery, civil conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. She is seeking damages in excess of $25,000 from each of the six.
The lawsuit also names the US Department of State and the FBI as defendants, claiming both agencies are responsible for investigative failures and delay in justice. Robinson’s mom is also seeking damages in excess of $25,000 from the state and FBI.
“The lack of justice serves as a painful, painful reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by individuals, especially young Black women when they seek adventure in unfamiliar places with unfamiliar faces,” Sallamondra Robinson’s attorney Sue-Ann said at a press conference.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that such tragedies do not go unanswered. The heartbreaking details of Shanquella’s death and the subsequent mishandling by federal authorities only add to the family’s grief, and they deserve both full transparency and justice.”

Robinson’s family is also calling for the arrest and extradition of Daejhanae Jackson, who is wanted in Mexico for femicide, Sue-Ann added, according to WSOC-TV.
The suit comes after Robinson’s family sent a letter to President Joe Biden requesting him to put pressure on authorities to make an arrest in March 2023.
The following month, the U.S. Department of Justice claimed in a news release that based on the available evidence, authorities “have conducted that federal charges cannot be pursued.”
They also claimed a separate autopsy had been done in the States but didn’t get into details regarding the results.
