Lisa Monk from College Station, Texas, underwent a CT scan at the end of 2022 due to stomach symptoms she believed were caused by a kidney stone.
Following spleen surgery, during a check-up session, the 39-year-old was shocked to receive a “fatal” cancer diagnosis and was given an “optimistic” prognosis of 15 months to live.
During the consultation, it was discovered that Monk had two kidney stones and a mass on her spleen, which was removed in January of the previous year.
The spleen tissue went through multiple pathology labs before being diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood vessel cancer at the fourth lab.
In March 2023, Monk was immediately hospitalized to start her first round of chemotherapy after the cancer diagnosis.
Despite losing all her hair and enduring severe side effects like “silvery skin” and vomiting from the harsh treatment, she underwent another round of chemotherapy.
However, during a routine hospital visit in April, she was informed that the initial pathology result was incorrect, and she never had cancer.
She asserts that after her organ underwent examination, the hospital’s test results showed no signs of cancer.
However, she alleges that the hospital did not review these findings until the April appointment, which she claims was a month later.
Regrettably, Lisa never had cancer, and she is now grappling with the aftermath.
According to Lisa’s mother, the doctor even congratulated Ms. Monk as though she had overcome the illness.
“Financially we’re still paying medical bills. Cancer is expensive and I couldn’t get any of my bills dismissed. Just the emotional trauma too. It was a very dark time…. I was writing goodbye letters and letters to the grandchildren I would never meet and the weddings I would never attend.”
Lisa also mentioned that despite undergoing treatment, she still appeared as if she had cancer.
Even though a year has elapsed, she expressed that her health is “ruined,” and she feels like her insides are “cooked.”
