The Bubblegum pink (or what most call Barbie pink) trend took over TikTok in 2022 and has continued to reign in our feeds even in 2023.
From the Barbiecore craze to Valentino’s latest fuchsia-doused runway, and with Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s Barbie film about to hit the big screen (set to be released on July 21), it seems this formerly dubbed “girly” hue is here to stay.
And celebrities (Queen B, Issa Rae, Simone Ashley, and others) are wholeheartedly embracing the maximalist trend with open arms both on and off the red carpet, and we’re not mad about it!
In fact, here’s a list of the cool celeb Barbiecore looks to help inspire your next wardrobe haul!
Alexandra Shipp
Channeling Barbie doesn’t have to be limited to tutu dresses, miniskirts, and tiaras. You can go the Alexandra Shipp way and rock a Versace Pre-Fall suit as she did during the European Barbie Premiere in London on July 12.
The pastel pink suit and slicked-back curls are hot. The pink pumps are also on point, and the glittery butterfly bra is so Barbie-sexy! We like every part of it!
To customize the look, hit up your tailor or favorite stylist and get it made ASAP.
Her after-party look was just as jaw-dropping. Love the nude pink nails as well.
Thando Thabethe
If you haven’t had the chance to see this babe in action, we recommend you get your Netflix watch list in order.
She’s the star of How To Ruin Christmas and the presenter for the Thando Bares All show in South Africa. And just as she oozes confidence, style, and glam in her performances, this babe rocks the Barbiecore trend like it was meant for her (and it clearly was).
We not only love this ruched, one-shoulder maxi dress for its pop of color but also how good it looks when paired with a soft locs messy bun with some face-framing tendrils.
But if you want to channel saucy Barbie, Thando’s lacy pink bodysuit is your best bet.
Rock it with your favorite pair of blue jeans for a beach date with your besties or under your best date night LBD for a spicy night with your lover!
Issa Rae
Our girl Issa channeled full Barbiecore energy in this sexy pastel pink leather skirt and white noodle strap top. We love the peep-toe boots and the Prada sunglasses, too.
To mimic the look, get this Charter spaghetti top from Macy’s ($12), this MakeMeChic faux leather pastel pink mini skirt ($39), and the Michael Kors Lawson open-toe shooties ($165).
Elsewhere (at the Barbie London Premiere), Ms. Issa Rae was spotted in a hot pink midi dress, a center-parted, slicked-back hairdo.
She finished the look with Chopard jewelry and strappy heels.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka stepped out at the LA premiere of her spy series Citadel sporting the most jaw-dropping silky Barbiecore gown.
The breathtaking number features a subtle thigh slit teamed with ruching at the waist and a long train draped over her shoulder.
She matched it with a toned-down pink lip for an iconic red-carpet look.
Elsewhere (during the Valentino’s Autumn/Winter 23 show in Paris), Ms. Priyaka Chopra-Jonas rocked a pink snake-print kaftan dress with a plunging V neckline.
Giving the Barbiecore trend a run for its money, the award-winning actress matched it with some pantaboots and the cutest pink bucket bag on the planet.
Simone Ashley
This Barbie means business!
In spring, Ashely walked the BAFTAs’ red carpet in a custom Valentino jumpsuit (yes, everyone’s rocking Valentino).
The hot Barbiecore pink look featured loose-fitting pants, a see-through mesh top, and a cape-like back.
Underneath, the Bridgerton star wore a uniquely-cut bracelet that has got some of us still searching the web for a cost-friendly dupe.
Then during the anniversary of TAG Heuer Carrera, the star turned heads by wearing a sparkled pink ruched mini dress with a surprising cutout on its sleeve. She paired it with a slicked top knot; a Tag Heuer watch, and a subtle smokey eye.
Lizzo
We love all of Lizzo’s hot Barbiecore fashion looks, but this magenta pink stood out for us. Plus, the Yitty Neon Pu*** Pink Panther attire, of course.
It’s all wildflute-approved!
Zendaya
Zendaya never disappoints. She unapologetically bodies every look and leaves us scrambling, looking for ways to mimic her style.
During Valentino’s new Pink PP campaign, the star embraced the Barbiecore trend by sporting a hot pink suit adorned with floral applique in a way that only she could pull off.
She accessorized the look with matching Valentino Garavani platform shoes, red hair with flipped ends, and a sultry but dramatic cat eye.
Beyoncé
Queen B bodies the term slayage – because that’s what she does. She could rock a sack or garbage bag and still look effortlessly sexy.
This Studio 54-Bob Mackie- and the disco era-inspired Ivy Park ensemble, for instance, brings the term “pretty in pink” to life and is the perfect Barbiecore look for anyone looking to channel the trend this summer.
If you want to translate it into your daily life (we can’t all afford Ivy Park ensembles), we recommend shopping this elevated bodycon dress ($149), and Sam Edelman hazel pumps in jute glam mesh ($98).
Gabrielle Union
Do we even need to say anything about this look? It’s givin’ serious Elle Wood vibes, and we don’t hate it.
Gabrielle rocked this as she stepped out in NYC and layered her pink tweed jacket dress over a satin mini skirt. She finished it off with a gold chain necklace and brown pointed-toe heels.
Rihanna
Who else but Rihanna to break the conventional Barbiecore fashion aesthetic and rock a brown jacket over a bubblegum pink cotton-terry bralette with a matching pair of rugged, low-rise denim? No one!
She’s been serving memorable bump-baring looks (since her first pregnancy), and we have loved every moment!
Which look will you be mirroring this summer?
