Willow is the latest artist to perform at NPR’s popular Tiny Desk Concert.
According to Rolling Stone, her performance had old favorites, new songs, and a world-premiere tune.
The singer debuted “Run!”
This is a song she hasn’t released before.
It will be part of her new album, Empathogen, which comes out May 3.
Run has funk elements, with the singer’s brilliant vocals blending with the bass and guitar.
However, this all leads to a meditative end.
Willow Also Played Her Two New Tracks
Other than “Run!”, the singer also played “Big Feelings” and “Symptom of Life.”
She also performed a toned-down version of “Split” and “Wait a Minute!”
Empathogen is Willow’s sixth studio album and her first since 2022’s Coping Mechanisms.
She’s collaborated with Jon Batiste on the opening track, “Home,” and St. Vincent on “Pain for Fun.”
Last year, the singer announced her intention to move away from pop-punk and rock.
Willow revealed that the albums helped her channel her “resentment” and “anger” during a turbulent time, but she now wants to move beyond the pain with Empathogen.
“For Coping Mechanism, I was almost never sober in the studio. And for this new album, I was sober for every single recording session. I feel like my mind state was extremely different. There was so much more gratitude, so much more resonance with myself, and so much more coming back to my roots with these new songs that are coming out.”
