Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 is becoming as successful as she hoped, debuting on top of the Billboard 200 album charts.
According to Billboard, the album sold 228,000 equivalent album units in the US–the biggest week for a female rapper in the 2020s.
The album also sold 25,000 vinyl copies, giving Minaj the biggest week for a female rapper’s album.
Overall, Pink Friday 2 is the rapper’s seventh top 10 album on the Billboard 200.
Nicki Minaj Is Breaking Records
With her strong debut, Nicki Minaj has become the first female rapper to land number 1 albums in two decades.
The album received 169.87 million on-demand official streams, giving Minaj her biggest streaming week ever.
It’s also the 2020s’ biggest streaming week for a female rap album and 2023’s biggest streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album from a woman.
Meanwhile, album sales make up 92,000 units, giving Pink Friday 2 the biggest sales week for a woman’s rap album in the 2020s and the year’s biggest sales week for a rap/R&B album.
Nicki Minaj released Pink Friday 2 in different variants, including:
- A 10-track CD album in two editions (Standard and Signed)
- Four vinyl versions
- Expanded 22-track version on digital (Clean and Explicit)
- 23-track version with a remix of “Beep Beep” with 50 Cent
- Another 23-track version with the bonus track being “Love Me Enough” with Keyshia Cole and Monica
- 24-track version with both bonus tracks
Pink Friday 2 is already a massive success, and Nicki Minaj will likely have a very happy Christmas.
