On June 9, The Art Of Dialogue shared a clip of an April 2023 video of Marques Houston on the R&B MONEY Podcast.
According to The Shade Room, the video showed Houston explaining that he had to leave after doing four seasons of Sister, Sister.
“I just felt like I didn’t want to be old and be Roger. Like, I didn’t want to be [typecast]…”
Houston also compared himself to Jaleel White, who became typecast as his Family Matters character, Steve Urkel.
Houston added that he was just a guest star on Sister, Sister, yet he had a boy group, Immature.
Marques Houston Didn’t Like The Contrast Between His Singing And Acting Personas
“I was two different people – on the road, I’m sexy, I’m taking my shirt off. I’m doing all [this] on stage, and then here I’m goofy. I’m being professional… and it’s like two different characters.”
Houston added:
“I’m like, ‘This dude, he’s ruining Immature.”
Houston reached his limit when he realized that “Roger was overtaking Immature.”
“Once I started going out, and everybody started saying ‘Go home, Roger,’ I was like, ‘I don’t want that.'”
Eventually, Marques Houston felt that he was “overexposing himself as an entertainer,” which negatively affected the R&B group.
He was a “ladies’ man” in Immature, but his role in Sister, Sister was the opposite.
Naturally, fans had a lot to say about the resurfaced video.
If he was such a ladies man in the 90’s why was his wife born in 2001?

Understandable.. the verbiage of the tweet makes it sound like shade. But if you listen to him, it wasn’t shady at all.
