Kristy Alexander is making a difference. The entrepreneur, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, owns a company that offers support to the survivors of human trafficking.
The company, called Apple Rose Beauty, does this by using profits to give these survivors a sustainable living wage and to help them become self-reliant after they are rescued.
Alexander was inspired to start Apple Rose Beauty when she visited Thailand and had heartbreaking interactions with two human trafficking victims.
She was moved by their stories and decided to create a brand to help others like them.
It helps that Apple Rose Beauty’s products are impeccable.
The brand’s products are natural, cruelty-free, vegan, and tender on sensitive skin.
This was borne from Alexander’s constant experimentation with various natural formulas to tackle her and her friends’ problems of excessive oiliness or dryness.
“Our products visibly alleviate tough skin issues such as oily skin, dry skin, acne, acne scars, and signs of aging.
Our unique formulations are crafted with the most potent, pure, and premium natural, wildcrafted, and certified organic ingredients sourced from around the globe.” Alexander explained, in an interview with VoyageATL.
Her business, however, wasn’t built purely off of inspiration. Kristy has an impressively vast educational background that prepared her for this unique experience:
Shas a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from North Carolina Central University and Masters degree with Honors in Management Science and Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University.
During her travels, she also tries various local remedies and essential oils.
This allowed her to create effective natural skincare products with the most potent, wild-crafted, natural, pure, and premium ingredients from all over the world.
Alexander couldn’t have picked a better time to launch her brand.
Black-owned skincare companies have tried a lot to increase their market share in the multi-billion-dollar industry.
Black women are some of the most inspirational figures since a significant number of them are giving back to numerous causes that help women around the world.
The entrepreneur’s hope is that her products will remove some of the feelings of worthlessness that a lot of women have.
She hopes to remind them that they have value.
Beauty With A Purpose
Alexander’s focus is exclusively on women who have been exploited in such a gross and inhumane way.
She feels that, in industries like beauty and skincare, they remain underrepresented and she wants to change this.
“[We’re] named after two victims of human trafficking.
Our company has a big heart with a mission to employ human trafficking survivors and support organizations involved in their rescue and rehabilitation.”
She continues. “We are more than just a skincare company. We challenge and inspire world changers.
We support, we speak life, we build-up, we restore and we celebrate and encourage the beauty in ourselves and others that is more than skin deep.”

Apple Rose Beauty is the kind of brand we hope to see thrive.
It has stellar products and its mission is important in a time when human rights deserve more attention than ever.
And for Kristy, that’s exactly what she intends to do:
“I truly see my business as an opportunity to serve my customers and employees and I feel really proud when we are able to do that well.”
