Billy Porter is once again dishing on his financial situation.
While on the U.K.-based Channel 4 for its “Ways to Change the World” podcast Porter shared the meager amount he is making for the hit show ‘Pose’.
The TV series, focused on New York City’s underground ballroom culture and airing from 2018 to 2021, starred prominent figures like Porter, Indya Moore, and Dominique Jackson, among others.
Despite earning critical acclaim, Porter disclosed that the meager residual payments received by the cast contributed to the initiation of the strike.
The 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike, spearheaded by the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union, stemmed from a labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and concluded on November 9, 2023.
During the interview he said:
“I’m making six cent checks on ‘Pose.’ A show that I won an Emmy for,”. He goes on to say
“That’s why we were on strike for 118 days,” ….. “No. Ya’ll don’t get to do that to us anymore… Everybody in this business, except for the ones who are making the F-you money, are three months away from homelessness.”

For Billy Porter to say that he was getting 6 cents residual checks from Pose is insane. Hollywood is crazy. ?
