An Oklahoma country station had refused to play Beyonce’s latest hit song, ‘Texas Hold Em.’
However, fans have flooded the station with requests to play the song–so much that they finally relented and started playing the hit song.
A representative was blown away by the sheer volume of requests.
“This is crazy how many requests we’ve gotten for the country station. This has moved so fast!”
According to RadarOnline.com, the station played the track for the first time on 13th February.
The Country Station Denies Refusing To Play Beyonce’s Track Was Racist
When asked if there was a racist undertone to their refusal to play Beyonce’s track, the anonymous representative laughed it off, claiming that the “country guys are catching up.”
I requested Texas Hold ‘Em at my local country radio station (KYKC) and after requesting, i received an email from the radio station stating “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station. @BeyLegion pic.twitter.com/eQksQemk6m

“The music is country, the instruments are country, but something else about it makes me think it’s not country.”
.@JoshLandryisMe claims a different Oklahoman radio station said these exact words.

Bey*ncé isn't inherently a country artist, so the immediate response from the radio station wasn't a huge deal. It's been two days, y'all. It's taken Black artists that are solely country longer than that to break into some of these stations. And now she's in rotation… pic.twitter.com/JBFrNKgAuR

#BeyHive! Let's kindly educate Oklahoma country radio station 1001 KYKC that Beyoncé's upcoming project and already released singles are indeed country music!
Remember to be kind and diplomatic. ??
