The man who ran over and killed Nicki Minaj’s father now wants the rapper to be involved in the lawsuit against him.
According to RadarOnline.com, Charles Polevich wants the court to depose Minaj for her childhood and the allegations that her dad abused her mother.
In February 2021, Charles struck 64-year-old Robert Maraj, killing him.
In court, Nicki’s mom slammed Charles for striking Robert and leaving him “like a dog on the street.”
Prosecutors revealed that Charles briefly stopped, asked Robert if he was okay, and drove off without calling for help.
When the cops caught up to him, Charles said he was “heartsick since realizing the extent of the tragedy.”
His punishment?
A one-year prison sentence.
Before his sentencing, Nicki Minaj’s mom filed a $150 million lawsuit against him for driving recklessly when he hit Robert.
The Driver Wants To Drag Nicki Minaj Into His Lawsuit
Charles’ lawyer’s response to the lawsuit was to empathize with Nicki Minaj’s family but insist that the lawsuit amount was too much.
“My client empathizes with the family. The question of whether there was negligence and degrees of negligence will be determined by the court. The $150 million amount seems to be over the top.”
In Charles’ court response, he blamed the victim for being “reckless, careless and negligent in crossing the street.”
In a new motion, his lawyer said Carol was deposed over two days.
“The deposition involves questions wherein the issue of domestic abuse is discussed. [Carol] acknowledges that statements related to the topic of domestic abuse were made by [Nicki Minaj] but [Carol] does not offer meaningful responses regarding the veracity of the statements made.”
Charles echoed Carol’s lawyer, who allegedly claimed she didn’t have the “services, society, comfort, companionship and consortium of her husband.”
Charles added that Nicki Minaj has “knowledge and information that is material and necessary to the defense of the claims set forth in this action.”
So, he wants the courts to depose Nicki.
A judge hasn’t ruled on the matter.
