A recent episode of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta spotlighted a heated exchange between reality TV personality Erica Mena and Dancehall icon Spice.
According to Vibe, the confrontation escalated quickly and saw Mena using a racial slur against Spice.
The argument started when Spice insinuated that Mena’s eldest son harbored resentment towards his mother.
Erica Mena Went Full-On Racist

Erica Mena retaliated by overturning a table towards the “So Mi Like It” singer, hurling death wishes, and using a derogatory term.
“That bi**h should’ve died!” Mena screamed about Spice’s past health issues.
In the heat of the moment, Spice retorted about Mena’s son, prompting Erica Mena to label her a “monkey.”
“You monkey, you f**king blue monkey!”
The incident sparked outrage online due to the racial undertones of Mena’s insult.
While Spice faced criticism for bringing up Mena’s child, the brunt of the backlash was directed at Mena.
Spice later addressed the controversy on her Instagram, referencing a past episode to justify her comments about Mena’s son.
She highlighted that Mena’s confrontations with other cast members, Scrappy and Stevie J, also involved her son.
“Kids are off limits right??????? But I guess it’s only when I ask cause where’s the same energy when Scrappy and Stevie J talked about it… But now I’m a Monkey and should have died on the table? Ok, Erica.”
Currently, Mena has not publicly responded to the criticism surrounding her choice of words.
This Isn’t Colorism. This Is Racism
Erica Mena isn’t Black. Colorism is exercised within the same ethnic group/race. Calling Spice a “monkey” is pure, cut & dry textbook RACISM

For the slow people in the back, Spice attacked Erica Mena’s parenting not her son was the right thing to do? No but if it’s the first thing you do is go to a racial slur shows me how you really really feel about Black people or women #LHHATL

Erica Mena hurling racial slurs at a black woman in front of cameras she’s fully aware are rolling with the intent to air the footage to a predominantly black audience is the perfect example of exercising privilege because you know there won’t be consequences. https://t.co/J0bDzNPEFI
