Now Jeannie, you ain’t read the prenup?
According to PEOPLE Jeannie Mai Jenkins has asked a judge not to enforce her prenuptial agreement with her estranged husband Jeezy as the pair continue to go back and forth in a fraught divorce.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, The Real alum claims she wasn’t given adequate time to review the documents before signing.
She claims that the rapper (born Jay Wayne Jenkins) began negotiations for the agreement only five days before their 2021 wedding.
Mai, 45, says that the “abbreviated negotiation window” has raised “significant concerns about the adequacy and thoroughness of the due diligence process, and each party’s ‘full and fair disclosure’ of their financial positions,” according to the documents.
The filing also states that the “compressed timeframe” made it “inherently challenging, if not impossible” for both parties to “engage in comprehensive due diligence.”
Mai also alleges that Jeezy failed to provide “comprehensive supporting financial documents” that provided a “transparent and detailed view” of his “assets, liabilities and overall financial standing.”
Mai has “respectfully requested” that the judge deny her estranged husband’s motion to enforce their prenup or hold off until her team has “thoroughly completed” their discovery.
This isn’t the first time the How Do I Look alum has petitioned the judge on matters regarding their prenuptial agreement.
After Jeezy filed for divorce in September 2023 after two years of marriage, Mai asked the court to enforce terms listed in their prenup regarding infidelity in December.
She alleged that her former spouse was unfaithful during their marriage.
After stating that she is “entitled to a divorce from Husband on the grounds that the marriage is irretrievably broken” and that she “does not wish to specify herein at this time in the hope this matter can be resolved without having to disclose such conduct publicly,” the television host seemingly claimed that cheating may have been a factor in their split.
In documents obtained by PEOPLE, the section stated that
“either party” that “engages in sexual relations, an emotional relationship, or is emotionally or sexually suggestive in communication with a third party via all forms of electronic communication, including but not limited to, texting, sexting, Facetiming, social media and/or Direct Messages, shall result in a significant financial penalty upon the adulterous party as specified in said Prenuptial Agreement.”
At the time, a rep for Jeezy denied her accusations, telling PEOPLE,
“Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins behalf are 100% false and he has no further statements at this time.”
