In 2021, Keke Palmer’s Instagram sketch videos had gone viral.
This surge in popularity landed her a deal on April 2021 with Amazon.
The actress has now partnered with Amazon once more for a new opportunity that shines a light on other Black women bosses.
Essence reported that Amazon and Palmer had teamed up to help Black women business owners to honor Women’s History Month.
Through this collaboration, the partners have come together to shine the light on a range of Black-owned brands.
They have also already spoken to two such founders for the Amazon conversation series.
Palmer is no stranger to being an entrepreneur.
In 2018, she launched Big Boss Entertainment, an independent record label from Dallas representing indie artists.
Palmer has also used her own personal experiences to help other Black women to start their ideas.
Palmer believes that the time is right to return the spotlight to Black businesses so that people remember the importance of supporting each other.
After all, many Black-owned businesses right now are newer businesses.
She wants Black business owners to receive the necessary tools, encouragement, and support to reach the same places as other businesses.
In Palmer’s wise words, this is the only way that Black folk can create generational wealth for the community.
This is also the best way to counter systemic injustices Black people have faced in business.
Palmer has so far selected a particular list of Black-owned businesses that need the spotlight:
- Bossy Cosmetics
- Culture Tags
- Kanda Chocolates
- Crystal Swain-Bates
- LIVE BY BEING
- Darlyng and Co.
- Orijin Bees
- EPIC Everyday
- Obia Naturals
Palmer’s advice to Black entrepreneurs is to take things day by day and go easier on yourself.
Growing a business is a process, and there will inevitably be issues.
However, if you refuse to give up and just keep going, you will give your business every chance to thrive.
