Kardashian has been going through it.
The Skims founder and global beauty icon, who recently finalized her divorce from ex-husband, Kanye Ye West, got emotional while speaking about her struggles co-parenting her four kids with the rapper on Monday’s episode of the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast.
“Co-parenting is hard,” said Kim, 42, who shares North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3, with Ye, 45.
“It’s really f—king hard.”
Kim said she’s been working hard to protect their children from their father’s antics in the public world. This is especially owing to her ex-husband’s controversial public tirades and recent anti-Semitic attacks.
“I definitely protected him, and I still will in the eyes of my kids, for my kids,” said Kim.
“In my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on in the outside world,” she continued, getting notably choked up and adding that she is “holding on by a thread, and I am so close to that not happening. But while it’s still that way, I will protect that to the end of the Earth. For as long as I can.”
Kim also explained how when she’s driving her children to school, they’ll sometimes want to listen to Ye’s music, and she ensures she puts anything going on in their lives to the side.
“No matter what we’re going thought or what’s happening in the world, I have to have that smile on my face, and blast his music and sing along with my kids, and act like nothing’s wrong,” she said. “And then as soon as I drop them off, I can have a good cry or… do what I got to do.”
Kim, who was extremely close with her later father, Robert Kardashian, explained, “I had the best dad, and I had the best memories and the greatest experience, and that’s all I want for my kids as long as they can have that.
“So, if they don’t know things that are being said or what’s happening in the world, why would I ever bring that energy to them?” she continued.
“One day, my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could,” she told Angie Martinez. “All the crazy s–t. They’ll thank me, and I’ll privately answer anything that they want to know. It’s not my place anymore to jump in.”
Kim and Ye officially settled their divorce on Nov 29 this year. The settlement, which cemented details regarding child custody and division of property, comes almost two years since the global fashion icon filed for divorce following six years of marriage to Ye.
Per documents obtained by Page Six, the ex-couple currently have custody with “equal access” to their four children, with Ye paying Kim $200,000 per month in child support.
A week before the settlement, Ye was accused of showing porn – and explicit pictures of Kim- to former employees who spoke to Rolling Stone for a scathing exposé.
Ye, in a since-deleted Instagram post, opened up about his porn addiction, listing it as one of the factors that destroyed his family.
“Hollywood is a giant brothel Pornography destroyed my family. I deal with the addiction Instagram promotes it,” he wrote. “Not gonna let it happen to Northy and Chicago.”
