We Did Not See This Twist About Lil Tay Coming
In a statement Tay’s family shared with TMZ, she expressed her distress over the incident.
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess. My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not “Claire Hope”.”
Lil Tay expressed gratitude towards Meta for helping her regain control over her Instagram account, and the misleading death announcement has since been deleted.
However, lingering questions remain as to why it took her an entire day to refute the false news, especially since she had already received calls from her hacked account.
The deceptive announcement appeared on Tay’s Instagram account Wednesday morning.
The post described her “sudden and tragic passing” as a profound tragedy.
The post also falsely asserted that Tay’s brother had also passed away, further compounding the alleged grief.
Lil Tay rose to fame as the self-proclaimed “World’s Youngest Flexer.”
She showcases her lavish lifestyle on various social platforms and has attracted a following of 3.2 million on Instagram.
