There have been numerous past Jeffrey Dahmer movies, documentaries, and autobiographies, but Netflix’s latest Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the anticipated October 7 release Conversations With A Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes have thrust the prolific serial killer back into mass media.
And while some people have found the true crime series thrilling, others, like the sister of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims, Errol Lindsey, have condemned the show, saying it re-traumatizes and capitalizes off victims’ horrific stories.
With all the controversy going on, Lyfe Jennings, a renowned R&B singer, decided to share some tidbits about his encounter with the Milwaukee Monster.
According to REVOLT, the 44-year-old Grammy-winning artist posted “Fun Fact: I Knew Jeffrey Dahmer. We Were In Prison Together For A Couple [Of] Months” on Sunday night.
After giving the heads up on his story, Jennings posted two videos on his page describing his encounter with the serial murderer. In one video, the R&B crooner said Dahmer ended up in the cell next to him.
“I could tell y’all some weird stories… don’t believe it? Look it up.. 1992 receiving, my number 268192 his 227501. Gonna tell one story on a reel tonight.. sh*t gonna trip u out. Tonight at 12.”
Before dropping his debut album Lyfe 268-192 in 2004, Jennings had served 10 years in prison for a 1992 arson conviction in Ohio, and according to him, he often ran into the Milwaukee serial killer when they were locked up in Wisconsin.
So, I used to run across dude all the time ’cause he wanted cigarettes. We used to trade stuff for little cigarettes while he was down there,” Jennings continued.
“So, like, I said, I was a porter. In case y’all don’t know, a porter is the cat that just cleans the railings and the floor … I was real young then, so they let me out to do my thing.”
Jennings continued, telling fans that one day, Dahmer – the serial killer and sex offender who killed, decapitated, and ate mostly Black boys and men for over ten years – made a song request: Mint Condition’s 1991 hit, Pretty Brown Eyes (Breakin’ My Heart).
“He asked If I know that record, and I sang the record, and he beat it on the door and all this stuff,” Jennings said. “I ain’t saying the homie is a celebrity or nothing. I’m just telling you my experience.”
Jennings said he would share another crazy run-in with Dahmer, but the following day returned with a video in response to the backlash he received for sharing his story.
“Listen, man, I put some stuff up yesterday, and cats is just going crazy,” he said, adding his parents watching the Netflix Dahmer series is what inspired him to share his story. “But my memories to share are my memories to share.”
Y’all asking questions … I got a whole bunch of stories. I ain’t gonna tell the rest of the stories about what happened with, not the little homie, the guy, the monster, all of that man. I’m just gonna go ahead and finish doing my thing.”
He captioned the story: “This world is so judgmental, so ima head out back to mine… last part of the story…the rest I’ll tell in an interview somewhere on mars.”

Lyfe Jennings telling his Dahmer story like it’s a badge of honor is wild. Bro was hype to say he sung pretty brown eyes to a serial killer. Lol

Jennings isn’t the only one who received backlash for comments about the cannibalistic madman. Rick Ross watched the Netflix series when it debuted and faced the wrath of Black Twitter when he posted that he was a fan of the serial killer’s choice of eyewear.
“Locate me a pair of Dahmer shades,” he wrote in a (now) deleted post. Well, it’s safe to say by the time Black Twitter was done, he wished he’d have just stuck to admiring his own collection of sunglasses.
