They play in our faces all day! Makeup brand Youthforia is getting dragged all over social media after creating a shade that resembles black tar to include women who have a dark complexion.
Girl, let’s cut to the chase, watch this:

As you can see above Beauty creator @golloria swatched the controversial shade alongside black acrylic paint: “Which side of my face is the black face paint or the Youthforia foundation? Tea, you can’t tell, you know why? Tar in a bottle.”
In a subsequent video, the lack of essential undertone pigments in the shade was confirmed by cosmetic chemist Javon Ford, who admitted they relied solely on black and white pigments, with no consideration for undertones.
Founder Fiona Co Chan issued apologies in several videos, pledging to engage with community leaders for improvement.
Even the brand’s search for a model to swatch the shade faltered, highlighting the impracticality of the color.
Matter of fact this was the image they used as one of their assets for a visual representation of the shade.
swatch no model!
This is not the brand’s inaugural stumble with foundation shades.
Last autumn, they faced criticism for releasing a limited range, offering only four foundations suitable for deep complexions.
These brands are SO comfortable in racism, Youthforia was already called out about their range but the founder thought it was funny and tried to be hilarious with coming out with a Black shade. I wish her the worst. If I said what I wanna say, I’ll get wiped clean from this app pic.twitter.com/odk0bUPhQV

Not the Asian creator of Youthforia coming out with a shade range expansion and the darkest shade is literally black. Straight up black. Women with super deep tones swatched it and it was still black. On them! pic.twitter.com/bmWV8h8oks

What pisses me off so much about Youthforia’s darkest foundation is that if you spent even a day working at a cosmetics counter shade matching black and POC you will quickly learn that every person’s skin has an undertone.
This shade was done so damn carelessly. pic.twitter.com/pXlL1BJ7d1
