Looks like Nelly and Ashanti are taking things slow.
Nelly appeared on a podcast and was asked what the status of his relationship is with Ashanti and he said it’s the same as always, they are really good friends.
He made the point that society puts a ton of pressure on celebrity couples to see a certain relationship and they do not take responsibility for when it doesn’t work.
He also said that you really have to be friends first and there is no time limit on it because he isn’t the type of man to get married more than once.
Since he opened the door on Marriage the interviewer asked him if he planned to put a ring on it.
He said in short he is married to his work 5.0.
Watch below:
to be clear Nelly and Ashanti reportedly began dating in 2003.
They kept their relationship private for several years but made occasional public appearances together.
However, they officially confirmed their relationship in 2004.
Their romance lasted for nearly a decade, with various ups and downs, before they called it quits in 2013.
In April the couple sparked rumors of a relationship after they were seen together together multiple times in Las Vegas.
A source told ET, “Nelly and Ashanti are back together and both of them are very happy and they are really enjoying their time together.”
People in the comments were not here for Nelly’s responses.
One person said:
Bruh stop! Men know immediately if that woman is who they want to marry and it doesn’t take 20 years of dating! ??♂️??#TrueStory
Another said:
Don’t start doing interviews about y’all relationship people try to twist things you might say something to hurt her feelings ??and didn’t mean it … let me read these comments
And another:
Yes sir there is a time limit on it called don’t waste the woman time. If you are married to your work and you are not ready to share your visions with her you are not a team in unity. She could easily be the best business partner you ever had.
and another:
F boy energy, I knew and I said it! @ashanti ?♀️ run babe. It Mr Waste yo time 2.0 ??♀️
Another commenter showed him support:
As a happily married couple once said to me: “The reason our relationship has been so successful is because we never followed what others did or allowed the words or expectations of others to dictate or relationship. We do what works for us.” Salute to Nelly and Ashanti for not allowing people to change how they do things.
We wish them both the best.
