The new single “WOMAN” by MC Lyte real name Lana Michelle Moorer features Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, and Raheem Devaughn.
This hard-hitting anthem, produced by Grammy award-winning producer Warryn Campbell, celebrates womanhood boldly and lyrically for women worldwide.
“WOMAN” was released on March 22, 2024, through a joint venture between My Block Records Inc and Sunni Gyrl, Inc, with distribution by Vydia.
On Instagram Lyte wrote about her collaboration specifically with Salt.
She said:
This woman right here, along with Pepa, were the reason I thought I could MC. Hearing their very first song SHOW STOPPERS inspired me in a such a huge way. Of course I had heard Sharock on the mic many years before but it wasn’t until I heard Salt and Pepa did I actually believe there may be a space for me within the genre.
Finally, an opportunity to work together. A song celebration for Women’s history month and beyond.
We complain about hip hop and it’s disrespect toward women and girls. We chose to give respect where it’s due!! Thank you fellas, Kane and Raheem for joining us on this mission!!
