The debates about a middle school teacher who had students remove his braids continue to happen across social media and from the looks of things he has lost his job.
WAIT WHAT ????| The male teacher who went viral last week for showing his female students helping him take out his braids on TikTok, has reportedly been fired from his teaching job.
Do you think this was justified? ???? pic.twitter.com/etF8YXvUQy

In support of Jaq Lee, another teacher from North Carolina shared a video of herself getting her braids removed by her students.
She said the kids were able to remove the braids in 25 minutes:

From the comments on the video we assume the point of sharing it is to determine if this teacher would receive the same level of outrage as the male teacher.
(Considering what happened to him, we aren’t sure why anyone would risk it but here we are).
On Twitter, educators continue to weigh in on the topic, one making the point that teachers subject to legal rules against touching minors.
its terrible but as someone who has worked in this field with kids, part of the legal rules is that you arent allowed to touch kids/minors in any way or have them doing this to you. You also arent allowed to really record kids and post it. the reasons for this are grooming and privacy. i am not saying he is a groomer, im just saying these people dont play about this kind of stuff.
To put this to rest while we have no idea what the specific rules are for each school there isn’t a universal rule regarding ‘touching’ between students and teachers in education.
However, most schools and educational institutions have policies in place regarding physical contact to ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment.
These policies typically aim to prevent any behavior that could be misinterpreted or make anyone uncomfortable.
Schools often encourage professional boundaries and emphasize respectful interactions between students and teachers.
With that said, every video posted to social media that involves children is subject to optics and opinions based on where we are as a society.
Posting videos and pictures of students on social media is a sensitive issue that requires careful consideration and adherence to privacy and consent guidelines.
Man, thank you for being a voice of reason. I wish the man hadn’t lost his job but I would expect to lose mine if did something like this.

and
This part. Also, it’s clear people have no idea how hard it is to fire a public unionized employee.
Schools & public service employees in general require a clear violation of a policy, law, and/or memo. It usually takes multiple offenses or something considered egregious. pic.twitter.com/eZeuulU28Y
